Spelunky 2 Cross-platform Information

Nintendo Switch, PC (Win), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S players can play together.

While each store may cross-play with other versions on the same platform, it cannot play with versions in a different cross-play group.

Can Spelunky 2 be cross-played?

Spelunky 2 can be played with up to four concurrent players, either locally or online.

Local Multiplayer

The character select screen allows up to three additional controllers. The players are then prompted to choose which Spelunker they wish to play as.

Local Multiplayer does not use split-screen. Instead, the first player is assigned a white flag, indicating that the game’s camera will follow them, regardless of the location of the other players. If the player with the white flag dies, the flag is passed to the second player, and so on.

Online Multiplayer

Online Multiplayer can be accessed via the “Online” tab in the main menu. Players can invite others to their game using a room code, allowing them to either start a run together or seek out other players in a public lobby.

Crossplay is supported among PC, Xbox, PS4, and Nintendo Switch, enabling players on any platform to find and join one another.

Nintendo Switch Online is required for Online Multiplayer, even though Spelunky 2 uses servers from studio Blitworks instead of Nintendo’s servers.

Spelunkers cannot be obtained in Online Multiplayer, including those unlocked by completing the game. Shortcuts are unavailable, and assistance with building them in Terra Tunnel is not permitted.
